Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
