Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an better serve.
He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
