Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, producing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both areas.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
